This website contains the personal story of what I have experienced as a person who is afflicted with paranoid schizophrenia. It details my thoughts, feelings, and actions during the years prior to my first psychotic episodes, the time when I was severely mentally ill, and the following years when I recovered. This story is exactly what I experienced in my life. I live in Arnold, Maryland, just outside of Annapolis, in the United States.

If you suffer from schizophrenia, you are not without hope. Many people can recover. Thanks to medication and coping strategies, I am now leading a productive life.   However, I must continue to take medication on a daily basis to maintain my mental health, and will continue to do so for the rest of my life.

I have a short version of my story which is an article I wrote several years ago for the Schizophrenia Bulletin, which is a professional medical research journal. I also have an audio mp3 of this article which you can download and distribute to anyone.

I have a longer version of my story which is the equivalent of 100 hardcopy pages. It details my schizophrenic experience from its beginning, through my psychotic crisis, and into acceptance and recovery.

I have co-written a book that was published by Oxford University Press in 2007, which also explains my story but in addition offers advice and information about schizophrenia in general. The title of the book is Me, Myself, and Them. It is no longer in bookstores, but it can be ordered from the major online booksellers, and it is available in some libraries.

I am available to speak to groups of people about my experience with schizophrenia. I will travel anywhere within the United States, as long as you can pay my travel expenses. I can provide references for other speaking engagements I have done.
